What makes it a social enterprise?
Part of the profits are reinvested into the Gawad Kalinga community where the bambowtie are made. Funds are focused on education programs such as building a playground, sponsoring a teacher's salary, contributing to a scholarship fund for the children and a weekly feeding program.
The production of bambowtie also helps to provide sustainable employment opportunity to builders of the Gawad Kalaing community.
